This is a great layout with a rectangular plan allowing for a wide but shallow location on the floor plate of the building. This is a much more desirable layout as opposed to a typical long & deep plan. The benefit of this (especially as it is Northern exposed) is that the natural light will penetrate through the entire shallow depth of the home. On a long & deep plan, you will have no natural light penetration and the back / entry of the home as the depth of the home is working against you.
